Journalism + data competence = Job opportunity

Monday, October 28, 2013
Hours after I shared a Poynter Institute article about news organizations' new imperative to hire people with talent managing data, a friend at Crain's Chicago Business invited me to help spread the word about a job for "a journalist first and foremost, but ... someone who is comfortable turning raw, complicated data into something that makes sense to our readers."

I've had fun working with Crain's over the years -- years ago as a radio news director at WNUA, home to Crain's business reports; and more recently as an occasional fill-in anchor for the Crain's Morning 10 -- so I'm happy to help find the right person for this job. Have at it.
Crain’s Chicago Business seeks an associate research director to join its editorial research team.
The department produces roughly 30 rankings and directories each year covering different facets of the Chicago business community. We’re looking for someone who will maintain our core, existing products as well as help us build out new features as we grow. Primary duties will pertain to managing our existing portfolio of lists, in addition to assisting with other data-driven packages throughout the Crain’s newsroom.
Tell'em Charlie sent ya.
