Rivet building multitalented team to reinvent radio news

The startup team at Rivet (site under construction) is looking for help in Chicago with an ambitious plan to reinvent radio news for the smartphone era. (You may recall my longstanding passion for this idea.)

Managing editor: A team player, responsible for fair and factually accurate reporting, all the time. Responsibilities include generating daily news assignments; approving or delegating approval of news stories; coordinating responsibilities and weekly schedules for reporters and producers; proofing stories for key attributes including but not limited to start and expiration dates, metadata and headlines; ensuring updated coverage, with correct flow of content and voices; monitoring quality of and approving finished reports; monitoring competition -- including radio broadcasts, TV newscasts and websites -- for news stories; and ensuring staff are trained on well-documented processes.
Reporter: A team player, willing to work a variety of hours, including nights and weekends; responsible for fair and factually accurate reporting, all the time. Responsibilities include researching, writing or adapting, and voicing stories -- from categories including world, national, local sports, entertainment, business, health, science, politics, technology, metro and lifestyle. Key skills include managing news information through tools such as NewsBoss, audio editing software, adherence to styles (e.g., The Associated Press) and general computer skills.
Producer: A team player, willing to work a variety of hours, including nights and weekends; responsible for fair and factually accurate reporting, all the time. Responsibilities include adapting written source stories and occasionally voicing stories; researching and writing news stories, from categories including world, national local, sports, entertainment, business, health, science, politics, technology, metro and lifestyle; ingesting, producing and editing audio; recording live news events; calling about and following up on news tips; exporting stories to the Rivet QA tool and performing the QA on audio and data content; and ensuring format compliance, including headline writing and metadata tagging. Key skills include managing news information through tools such as NewsBoss, audio editing software, adherence to style (e.g., The Associated Press) and general computer skills.
